Historical Fiction Discussion, Wednesday, Dec. 16, 4 pm

Brooklyn by Colm Toibin will be the book for a virtual historical fiction discussion. To participate email info@quecheelibrary.org for the Zoom link. Facilitated by Jim and Meg Schmidt, the series delves into the historical background and the novelist’s craft of a new title each month.     Copies available for borrowing of the story set just after WWII feature the young Eilis Lacey as she is sent by her family and a priest from small-town Ireland to work in a department store on Brooklyn’s Fulton St.  The era comes alive in Toibin’s hands who writes, according to the Globe, with “mesmerizing power and skill.”
