Attorney/Novelist at Quechee Library: Uncivil Liberties

On Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 pm Bernie Lambek visits to read from his new novel, Uncivil Liberties, set in Vermont and reflective of of his work as a leading Vermont attorney.  Son of Jewish  refugees from Nazi Europe and a graduate of Dartmouth College and Yale Law School, he has practiced in Montpelier for more than 25 years and represented a number of school districts, sometimes dealing with the novel’s topics of student speech and religion in the schools.

Lambek and ACLU colleagues successfully challenged the practice of holding official prayer at Vermont town meetings. He serves on the Vermont ACLU board and is well positioned to offer a fictional treatment of  current school issues including bullying.
